Mastros Steakhouse

Had an extreme and absolutely awful experience with a different steakhouse, and found Mastro’s. It absolutely turned a horrible experience into one of the best I have ever had, anywhere!! Celebrating my daughter’s graduate school. Mastro’s staff was exceptional and fun!! Food was 5 star Michelin quality all the way from the amazing bread basket to the “to die for” desserts! Visiting Chicago? You absolutely must visit Mastro’s!!!

 Reviews

What a great dining experience. This is probably one of the most upscale steak houses in the city and they have the food to go with it. Grab the bacon forsure, sautéed shrimp for appetizers. SO GOOD! My steak came out the perfect and so did the rest of food. Lobster mash potatoes were just unbelievable. Vegetables super fresh. Everything was basically perfect. Service was great, although our waiter seemed kind of all over the place and was doing a lot/ a little bit slow. I think he could’ve done a bit of a better job if he was writing stuff down. Nonetheless he was super friendly and provided us an excellent experience. Highly recommend this place for birthday, anniversary or any occasion it’s so good!
We ate here in a large group and service was a little slow, but it was a very busy night. Venue is beautiful, and staff were friendly, place is dimly lit and romantic feeling. It was easy to get a reservation. We got scallops, lobster Mac and cheese, mastro bread basket and ahi tuna for appetizers which were all excellent. The whiskey selection was better than expected and my Whistle Pig Black Prince made the evening even better. Without question, the 10oz A5 Miyazaki Wagyu was the highlight of the night, and was like a flavor bomb in my mouth, exploding with umami. 5/5, no, 10/5, it was amazing. I highly recommend it. Oh, and we sat next to the pianist who was both beautiful and a wonderful singer which just made everything too notch for sure.
Restaurant week menu Probably the most generous restaurant in terms of restaurant week 8oz Filet done (Black and Blue) perfectly is good size for me. Glass of wine was probably the most pour you can get in the country. French onion soup could be hotter and have more cheese Bread basket was warm with good variety Sorbet was delicious and also a generous 3 scoops The only thing that could be better was that the steak came out way too early. I haven’t finished half the soup yet and steak was out. Causing the plate not to be as hot as it should be

Food here is amazing! I came for restaurant week so the food was discounted. I got the bone in strip with mashed potatoes and broccolini! Amazing meal, my friends got the lobster mac and the mushroom gnocchi and they said it was very good. The cheesecake I had was incredible. Some of the best I have ever had. The drinks were tasty and delivered fast.

The french onion soup was also incredible! Servers were very nice and accommodating. The only issue I had was the music that was playing felt very out of touch. I wasn’t expecting to hear certain songs. And the music, along with the loud crowd made the place a bit unbearable. The restaurant just needed some classical music or even some jazz to really set the mood. Either way, will be back! I really had a great experience at Mastro’s. The food was great the staff was exceptionally fast and efficient. The only thing I dislike about this restraunt it not one in each city
