The Afghan Village Restaurant Houston This place is amazing. I was missing authentic Afghani cuisine and this place hit the spot for sure. This will be a staple that I will be enjoying on a frequent basis going forward. The service was amazing too! Excellent quality! Thank you!

We have been three times to this place with varying party sizes. It has never been short of amazing. It may not look spectacular but the food is well-priced, generous, and absolutely delicious (could not recommend the lamb shank or the goat karhai more highly). The staff have also always been pleasant and happy to help with the menu, not only that but they’ve always given us something little extra to try which we didn’t order.

First experience with Afghan food, and we were impressed! We ordered the All-in-One platter which was massive for two people. It included many different types of kebabs and ground meats on a gigantic mound of rice. All the meats tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The rice was fluffy and flavorful.

We also got the bolani appetizer (turnovers filled with leek, potatoes, onions and herbs) which was served with spicy green sauce. It was so so good!! It came out piping hot and crispy. We’ll be back for sure to try the stew-based dishes!

comment 3 :

Of note, the restaurant’s tablecloths and overall decor was a little outdated. The menus could also be improved as the pages were old and sticky. They also used tissues for napkins.

Comment 4 :

There is absolutely no way that food can taste this good without sharing it with others who might be interested. The Qabuli Palau is a must try, the meat is tender and flavorful. Thank you Afghan Village! See you next time!
