Real experience
An experience of a place hiding in the middle of Nebraska. I can officially say that this was my 1st taxidermy-filled restaurant (not my cup of tea) nonetheless it was pretty neat to see all the animals and their sizes. The polar bear was pretty cool.
The vibe walking in, was quiet when we arrived for a party of 8 so we got seated immediately. Did call for a reservation just in case! Our waitress was so friendly and went above and beyond to ask any questions we had.
The food was delicious. Good home-cooked food. Everyone enjoyed the food minus a few things like flavors on some things.

This is our second time and Ole’s and it didn’t disappoint either time. Such a cool atmosphere and the food is great.
Their wings are awesome, the fried pickles were crisp, and the Cajun chicken had great flavor.
Any time we’re coming through Paxton, we will stop and eat at Ole’s. So many animals from all over world. The staff were nice and the service was very good.
If you are passing through Paxton you definitely need to set aside some time and eat at Ole’s!

Crane broke down in this small town of Paxton, NE. We ended up staying 5 days. We stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The food was absolutely perfect every time, the Staff was friendly & helpful. We ate here several times and enjoyed every time. The breakfast Host (Marie I think) was absolutely wonderful, kept our cups & glasses full. If you are ever in this area, definitely worth the stop.

This place is totally worth stopping in and checking out ! If your just traveling they like I did and see the billboard before ya get to Paxton. It’s worth losing a little bit of travel time to stop and eat here. Food was great. I had an 8oz sirloin and it’s the best steak I’ve ever eaten. And I love steak staff was friendly and the atmosphere is so cool ! Taxidermy wildlife everywhere with stories to go along with them! Plenty of parking around back, even for a truck and 24 foot horse trailer like I had . !
Oles!!! Apparently, they used to have 200 real animal heads on display and now they only have 100, but I can’t imagine them fitting more in the very beautiful dining space. Service was kind and prompt. Can’t complain about a warm top sirloin and sweet potato casserole!

What a great old steakhouse! The thick NY was perfectly cooked medium rare which isn’t that easy but they are great. Surrounded by trophies of the original owners big game hunts on all continents. Nice bar selection, nice wine choices. Opened in 1933, it’s like a museum of cool stuff. Colt, the bartender was delightful. Kid friendly and some nifty merch.
finally
Great food homemade food and the beef!!! So fresh!!! Fast and friendly service! The atmosphere is one of a kind! Worth the stop if you are traveling on I 80 in Nebraska just east of Ogallala! We stopped after our visit to Lake Mac! We will be back! My dad said his grandfather and dad took him here! I love the history!
