Souvlaki GR Restaurant

The Soutzoukaki Pitza (homemade meatballs cooked in traditional tomato sauce drizzled with yogurt sauce) – although not authentic Greek food, I really liked this mashup and I love me a pizza. The meatballs were really good
-Greek salad – a bit too much feta but fine overall. We just needed some greens to go with our meal
-Hand-cut Greek fries – these weren’t bad but I typically don’t like hand cut because of the potato skins
-Grilled octopus – this was my favorite of the night. Octopus can be chewy but it tasted fresh and was perfectly cooked in this case

-Psita tis Oras Poikilia (mixed grilled meat platter) – this comes with lambchops, Greek sausage, chicken, pork, beef skewers, with pita and tzatziki. I liked the sausage and the pork the best
-Branzino – this was also good. Seems they do seafood well here

Overall, it is on the pricier side but as my Mama always says – you get what you pay for.

This restaurant is situated in front of Carnegie Hall. The food is good, nothing outstanding. The place looks good and clean. Our server, whose name is Hera, was terrible. I think she needs training urgently. She was very rude and unprofessional just to me and my daughter because she was very kind with the tables beside us. I think she thought we were Latin tourists, but we are very proud Americans. I felt discriminated by this lady for the first time in my life. 100 % recommended it if your server is another person.

I have been to this particular restaurant many times, often before a show in the neighborhood. I came here with three other people on a Sunday night at 7pm in mid March. I got a reservation on Open table the day before pretty easily. Plan to have a reservation before dining as I have never seen the place anything but packed.

The service at this restaurant can be very slowly and the size of the restaurant is uncomfortably cramped; however, none of that matters because the food is incredible. It is some of the best Greek food I have ever tried in Manhattan. I particularly love the Souvlaki pitas. My husband loves the Bifteki Gemisto. The prices are moderate for the quality of quantity of food they provide.

I would definitely recommend this restaurant and cannot wait to go back. I will never say no to dining here.

Everything was fantastic and reminded me and my family of the vacation we spent in Greece. The food, the wine, and the service were all outstanding. The service in Europe tends to be slower and this was similar but we were never left unattended. The only reason for the 4* vs 5* is that I was disappointed that they choose to automatically add a 22% tip. I’m usually tipping 20+ anyway, but to not really have a choice was disappointing after a fantastic meal. Definitely recommend eating here for a little taste of Greece. We had the dakos, octopus, meatballs, pita, etc…….

Finding a good spot to eat in midtown is always challenging. This awesome restaurant truly transports you to Greece! I absolutely loved the style and decor.

The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Definitely more of an upscale option – the quality was better than expected!

As always, make sure to book a reservation!
