Real experience
Fried Green Tomatoes and Pan Fried Chicken Livers were amazing local catch parmesan crusted Flounder over shrimp was excellent! Be ready to eat if you order the buttermilk fried chicken, lots on a plate and delicious. Fantastic service too! It was our first visit, and we really liked the service and food. They offer an extensive list of wines, and we chose the Chablis, which was great.
However, the cocktails were just okay. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and deviled eggs for our starter. My husband’s main entree was buttermilk fried chicken with mashed potatoes, creamed corn, and collard greens, all of which were delicious.
I tried the special of the day, deep-fried locally caught soft-shell crabs with coconut jasmine rice, and it was amazing. For dessert, we had Southern pecan pie and a warm cream cheese pecan brownie, both fantastic. Our waiter, Slade, was very kind and helpful.

Following a walk tour of historic Charleston, we were left at the Pineapple Fountain not sure of what to do other than we wanted to eat! A short walk to East Bay St provided the answer as we arrived at Magnolia’s at just the right time. On our list to try but struggling to get a reservation we were pleasantly surprised when we snagged a walk-in friendly bar high table. Score! Offering classics from the south Magnolia’s has a nice selection of options for the lunch time crowd.
Our meal included The Tomato Bisque Soup (very good…nice, light and very tasty but without an overall tomato-y taste) followed by the Crab Cake Sandwich (excellent…super tasty and crispy crab cake with a great sauce) and the Fried Green Tomato BLT (also excellent with nice crispy bacon and also a great sauce). Service was super friendly (as you’d expect from in the South…clearly I’m from the North) in a busy, hoping and casual environment. Definitely worth a visit but try to get a reservation first (or come before noon) when within minutes of noon the walk-in’s take all the available tables. Enjoy!

The seafood bouillabaisse was a perfect plate of food. I could have eaten a plate of brussel sprouts and nothing else. The blackened catfish was, easily, the best catfish I’ve ever had. I traveled to Charleston to visit my love and eat well – and all my intentions materialized perfectly. The ice cream for dessert was a perfect finish! I hope to return one day! Great service, lovely dining room, arrived for dinner and experienced no wait at all.

We ate here for brunch on our anniversary trip, and it was AMAZING! We will definitely be making this a must-do on our future trips to Charleston. Our waiter, Tyler, was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, breakfast country fried steak, and some fresh bread. We even got a cute postcard with our meal. 10/10 would recommend!

We enjoyed an early dinner here today. The Fried Chicken plate was Fabulous! The sweet corn was crisp and sweet as if it was picked fresh out of an Iowa corn field. The collard greens had a nice sweetness to it. The chicken breast was fried perfectly. The mashed potatoes & biscuits took this plate over the top. Enjoyed dinner so much I needed to purchase their cook book to take home to the midwest. Our server Cory was very attentive as well. finally
