The Gaslight Dining Saloon

We’d heard this was a go-to place from some locals. It didn’t disappoint.

The food was good, especially the Cajun jambalaya. We also had the country fried steak, which was good but you may want an extra side of gravy.

The Chislic was a fun, yummy appetizer, as was the Gaslight chips and cheese dip. Very hearty appetizer.

Service was great. They had live music, which was not the most amazing (on the night we went), but added to the fun atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Didn’t need a reservation for a party of 5 on a Friday night.

Would for sure go back.

This is a great place to grab dinner, the staff was awesome at keeping our drinks filled and asking if we needed anything. We have never had service like this anywhere, so this speaks volumes of how serious the staff is about enjoying what they do.

Stopped in by chance and was blown away!! The steak special was PHENOMENAL and the desserts were top notch. We had one bite left but still brought it home to finish later- it was that good! I would say the best part, tho, was the service. Our server Gary was so friendly and personable. And the manager Nick was helping any way he could, made sure our food was exactly how we wanted it and even chatted about wine with us! The place was packed and there were only 2 servers and one bartender but they were on top of everything and had smiles on their faces all night. I can’t say enough good things about this place. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Excellent food, but even better service. We went there for dinner during all 4 days of our trip and received the best care. They even gave us recommendations on what to see in the area.

Headed to Mount Rushmore and pulled off the interstate to eat. The Gaslight did not disappoint. The menu is small, but what they do have to offer is done to perfection. The hog wings (ribs) outstanding, the smokehouse sandwich delicious, and the cheese curds very tasty. The beer is ice cold – first ice cold draft since we’ve been here (we’re staying in Deadwood). The server was friendly and attentive and the service fast. The special touch for me was the background music. Good ole classic country was perfect for this MT gal.

There is a cool honky-tonk vibe here. Live bands every weekend and a special late-night menu Thurs through Saturday from 9pm to midnight. Portions were huge! My brisket sandwich had so much meat, it was hard to eat. Fries were hot, but stringshoe…not my favorite. They do have a kid’s menu; however, I would consider this more of an adult venue.

Food was good, and filling, but nothing to write home about.
The side salad was mostly whole lettuce leaves, so a tad hard to eat.
The dip for the sweet potato fries however was delicious. Like a smokey butter with some bacon in it.

Overall, nothing over the top, but worth a return visit.
