Tuome Restaurant

Tuome’s food is creative and delicious, cerebral without being pretentious. Rather than trying to snag an impossible reservation at a trendy Italian restaurant, consider getting the snow crab noodles at Tuome, which have the bite and richness of the city’s top pasta dishes.

Every single fusion dish felt both new and familiar. My brain was constantly connecting the dots. Everything felt carefully thought out. It all worked so well together.

The standouts were the deviled eggs and the Chinese “beignets”.

I’ve had deep fried boiled eggs plenty of times (tempura, Scotch egg, pok pok, without coating), yet I’ve never had it simply breaded. It’s a pleasant textural contrast. Deviled eggs are usually quite bland even with the help of mustard. Here, it’s dressed with chilies to enliven it.

The Chinese “beignets” were the best ice cream sandwiches I’ve had. The bread is a deep-fried steamed bun, essentially a mantou, but with frilly edges for extra crisp. Cookies are too sweet; white bread lacks texture; monaka doesn’t have volume. The “beignets” overcome all those flaws. It’s hot, fluffy, crispy, not too sweet. The tang of the marmalade and goat milk caramel balanced out the sweetness.

Wine by the glass has some really interesting options. The Trebbiano is a strong recommend, excellent aromas for the price.

Service was incredibly attentive and friendly. When I accidentally dropped my fork it got replaced so fast.

Tuome Restaurant New York Menu

This place absolutely deserves its Michelin star. The service was excellent (our server was so helpful for us to understand portions of dishes and the relative sweetness of cocktails).

Our drinks were delicious and the appetizers were incredibly inventive (we had the deviled eggs and the scallop dumplings, both of which were excellent). We shared the pig out which was a fascinating texture and amazingly rich flavor. The lychee salad paired so nicely. We really enjoyed the toothsome texture of the peanut noodles as well. Our dining companions had the snow crab pasta which was so rich and velvety.

This Michelin-starred restaurant boasts exceptional cuisine that justifies the visit. While seating might be a bit cramped and the service could be more polished, the food shines through. The flavor combinations are truly innovative and exciting, reminiscent of Eleven Medicine Park in its pre-vegan era. Incredibly, the prices here are quite reasonable compared to other restaurants of this caliber. Don’t miss the quail – it’s a standout dish!

Located in alphabet city an unassuming restaurant, cozy and relaxed yet a sophisticated feel. You can actually hear each other, which is rare in New York, making this a top rec for date spots. Food was absolutely delicious. I don’t think we had any dishes we didn’t like. Highlights were kabocha squash, chicken with risotto, and cute little quail. Server’s recs were solid, no liquor only beer and wine (but they make cocktails from wine/sake).

First time trying a Michelin starred restaurant and had a great time, I had dinner reservations for 9pm but got there at 8:15 and was sat right away because there was room in the restaurant. It’s a small intimate place light with warm candles. My partner and I got the snow crab noodles and chicken plus broccoli and rice for sides . Everything was delicious and decadent. Come here for a special night and will not be disappointed.
