Real experience
Restaurants that are THAT steeped in history always are on my radar, so lunch at James Hook + Co. was a must! Here are our top three suggestions on what you should order when you’re there:
Double Stuffed Scallop: I’ve lived in New England for almost 14 years and in that time, have become obsessed with any sort of stuffed shellfish. This seafood stuffed scallop is BEYOND – I can’t even begin to explain to you how delicious it was. A bright balance of acid from the lemon and the sweet scallop meat, paired with the delicious seasoned crumbs on top makes it an appetizer I want to have over and over again!
Shrimp & Corn Chowder: The ideal way to warm up on a New England spring day that promises to be warm but really just delivers cloudy weather and chilly temps mind day, ha! This chowder was packed with flavor!
Lobster Roll: The star of the show, this lobster roll was top-notch! The sweet lobster meat was stuffed into a grilled bun, and the lobster salad itself was perfectly tossed in mayonnaise and secret signature seasonings, which elevated it to the next level. It was also served very cold, and that contrast with the bread was lovely!
Five stars to James Hook + Co. for delivering not only outstanding food, but great service and ambiance! I can’t wait to take my family there this summer when they visit!

Lobster rolls – the maine cold version – was so good I came here for two meals. The mayo was not too heavy, and the brioche was nice, toasty and not too buttery. The lobster meat was nicely cooked. If you are not a fan of cream, do not get the lobster bisque.

Very popular lobster purveyor that mostly lives up to the enormous hype and expectations. There was a pretty long line to get through before I could take a bite into my $40 large warm butter lobster roll. It definitely tasted fresh and hit the spot. But it did seem a bit plain to my taste. I would’ve liked something to up the flavor profile just a bit. Maybe a better roll or some fresh dill. I probably wouldn’t get the warm butter roll again. I’d try the classic mayo version instead.

Had a quick stop here for lunch, and it was a pretty decent experience. It’s a trailer sitting in a parking lot, but once you get inside you feel like you’re in this small cozy restaurant/small seafood market. The service was ok, the guy behind the counter seemed like he had somewhere else to be, but did his job none the less. The food came out in a timely manner , and tasted pretty good.
Clam chowder have it once because it’s all the same for the most part. The lobster roll was packed full of meat , and hit the spot with the warm butter. It’s just one of those places you have a nice experience, but never feel the need to go back to…

Had the lobster roll with butter and the new lobster pie. Lobster roll was well worth the money and delicious but the new item Lobster Pie had barely any lobster in it. More breadcrumbs than anything. Service was good as food was served to the table
