Gandhi Mahal Restaurant Minnesota

This is one of my favorite spots for Indian food in the metro! My Indian friends tend to agree. Their food has some heat to it when requested which is much appreciated by my fellow spice lovers! The menu is HUGE and does not disappoint. Service is good, and alcohol is also served here. Portions are large and reasonably priced, though it is sometimes hard to find parking during busy times. All nearby parking is metered. The only real complaint I have is that the buffet is not the best.

We always get takeout and there are a variety of fun specials during the week to encourage return trips. Prices are sneaking up a little bit as long as they don’t get too expensive I will eat here frequently. Never dined in, doesn’t seem super well suited for it.

I’ve eaten at over a dozen Indian restaurants and this is the best my husband and I have visited. The service was good, the food was excellent, the live music made me want to dance and the vibe set a romantic tone. Overall, it was a perfect experience and I highly recommend trying this place!

I immediately appreciated this restaurant for not making their food (especially the channa) oily. Naan could have been buttered but went very well with the channa. The buffet also included equally tasty lentil and aloo sabji options to have with the seasoned or basmati rice. The aloo bajjis were quite oily but this did not take away from their taste, which I enjoyed after dipping into the green/spicy chutni (sweet variety was also available).

I ate the salad to start light before moving on to everything else in the lunch buffet. The cool kheer and mango custard dessert options were delicious and especially welcome on a summer day. 10/10 and will definitely return!

The food is absolutely fantastic – you’re going to be paying a touch more than a basic Indian restaurant, but holy moly, it’s soooo good! The only complaint I have is that the wait was incredibly long – my wife placed our order last night and was told to arrive in 20-25 minutes (we ordered to go). She got there 25 minutes later, and still had to wait another 30+ minutes. They also did not have an organized to go scheme, but I believe we ordered on day 2 of their new operation, so I bet in a week or two they will be operating much more smoothly.

All that said, you’ve gotta go here. I had dreams about their naan and tandoori chicken last night.

Probably the best Indian restaurant in Minnesota. The setting is very nicely set up and the food is outstanding! The foods I would recommend are the Biryani, Vindaloo and Chicken Tikka (Chicken Lovers), and the Rogan Josh (Lamb Lovers)… Make sure to also get Naan! No Indian food is good without the Naan especially the Garlic Naan and Roti! Also, give the Mango Lassi a try if you haven’t, you’ll thank me later!

I relatively recently moved to the area, I am from a small town with very little food diversity/choices. I decided to give something new a try. LET ME TELL YOU. I had an out of body experience. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and a samosa with green chutney. It was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had in my life. My pants button was bursting at the seam and I couldn’t stop eating. I am a changed woman.
