Real experience
Really great atmosphere for a rooftop dinner in San Diego. You won’t get any spectacular skyline views from the two story roof, but the lively environment and view of the street below creates a fun atmosphere. Food was surprisingly tasty and fresh. The kale Caesar salad was delicious, the lobster pasta was hot and flavorful, and the fries tasted fresh from the frier, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Recommend for a casual-formal night out trying to find good food, decent portions, and not super overpriced.

Came here for dinner on the 4th of July. It’s a nice rooftop vibe! They booths on the edge have fire pits, as it gets chilly in the evenings. The food here was so good. My wife started by getting the braised pork belly, which she said was the best she’s ever had.
She also got the wild boar bolognese, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and was a heaping portion. I started with the cheddar & chili roasted cornbread. It was DIVINE! It had a honey drizzle that it was coated with that made it amazing! For my entree, I had the bone-in pork chop. That is a seriously good pork chop.
The broccoli and sweet potato were seasoned well, and tasted great also. Katherine gave good, prompt service. Come for the rooftop, but also try as much food as you can off the menu!

Exploring San Diego with my family for the first time, we were on the hunt for a rooftop dining experience. Rustic Root had caught our attention, and it exceeded all expectations! Our server, Ilian, went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic evening, with his warm demeanor and witty charm making us feel like part of the family. Every dish was a culinary delight, served with precision and care. We’re already planning our return visit!

Excellent food for the price point. Good selection of wines and a nice collection of cocktails. We had the manager Vince sit with us for a few minutes and we had a great discussion on service and good food . Fall off the bone ribs. A tomahawk pork chop and really good brussel sprouts.
Again, many thanks Vince. We’ll be back when we are in town!!! Great brunch spot in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Fun NYC feeling atmosphere, great people watching from the second floor rooftop, service is on point and the food and drinks are top notch. Fun, elevated bar/restaurant in a perfect downtown location.

We stopped by the Rustic Root in San Diego and Abby was wonderful!! She allowed us to sit upstairs and overlook 5th Ave. to have a few cocktails. The view was amazing and being December, the holiday decor was fabulous. We were near a fire-pit and very comfortable in the open air 59 degree balcony. Will definitely stop back when we are in town!!

Great place. We were looking for a rooftop experience and this did not disappoint. Great people watching and the food was good. It’s pricey but everything in this neighborhood is.
