"The Smith: Where Classic Meets Contemporary in NYC"

The Smith restaurant North Chicago is amazing place. They were extremely busy when I visited, but they fined table for me and my partner immediately, waiting time for service was lightning fast. Fresh and delicious food, accomplished with with ice cold water and sparkling mineral water. Great atmosphere! Great service and friendly staff

Oh my goodness the food was amazing. I could not stop eating the salmon even though I was full. Loved the cabbage and roasted yellow beats and capers and all the other stuff that was involved with that salmon entree My Honey, steak was well prepared and succulent.. When we return to Chicago this will definitely be one of our stops

 Reviews

My friends and I needed a place downtown for brunch that wasn’t too far from the Riverwalk for a leisurely stroll to the Island Party Hut Fall Festival but also near a Spot Hero for affordable parking (Chicago Cut Steakhouse’s valet parking $15 for the whole day) — The Smith won for having available reservations, spacious outdoor seating, and a phenomenal “brunch cocktail included” with price of breakfast meal (~$18 on average for both, savings of $13!).

Food was delicious. Good healthy selection of appetizers. Service was really bad. They forgot about our big table of 8. We had to keep waving the server down and we were assigned two servers. The atmosphere was really loud. Whether you were upstairs or downstairs, the noise level was high (it feels like you’re in a market). Prices were fair in the high $20s to mid 30s for dinner. I was impressed by the dishes. It definitely compensates for the bad service and loud atmosphere. Delicious for Bunch, Lunch, and Dinner! This is a great NY and Chicago restaurant! They had shut down the street to expand outdoor seating. The food was great and the atmosphere was fun

This was a wonderful surprise around the corner from The River Hotel. Our waiter was very good at explaining the menu and to our surprise we arrived during their happy hour. We started with appetizers, blue cheese dip with their homemade chips, nigiri salmon on pressed sushi rice, both were so flavorful. For dinner, my husband had the lemon, brick flattened chicken and I had the Caesar salad with salmon. The ambience was fabulous, the newly renovated place has the most beautiful tile work

Service was good. Food was pretty good! They give you bread with butter service and that’s always a win in my book! I had a mule to drink which was tasty. I ate a kale quinoa salad and added grilled chicken. They gave us one bill for the party, but the waiter was able to charge specified amounts on each card- would have been easier on all of us including him to just give us separate checks.
